Dubbed as the visual “you didn’t ask for but the internet needs”, Katy Perry has unveiled the lyric video for her Nicki Minaj collaboration, ‘Swish Swish’.
Directed by Dario Vetere and David Campbell, the lyric video features Brazilian star Gretchen parading around with a group of dancers on a neon-lit basketball court. The video was shot in Salvador, Brazil in collaboration with the dance group Fit Dance.
For those of you unfamiliar with Gretchen, she released a string of hits in the 80’s including ‘Freak Le Boom Boom’. In recent years, she is best known for being an Internet sensation. Referred to as Rainha do Bumbum (“Queen of Butt”), she has become an internet meme particularly in Latin America. After watching the lyric video for ‘Swish Swish’, we have no doubt that we’ll soon be seeing a lot more Gretchen memes on our timeline!
