Khalid had the entire audience dancing on Saturday August 24 in Washington, DC as he had the honor of concluding Apple’s worldwide Up Next Live series.
Beats 1 DJ Ebro Darden introduced Khalid to the massive crowd of people watching from the historic steps of the Carnegie Library in Mount Vernon Square.
Darden, who is the Apple Music Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B, also announced that all the performers from the Up Next Live series would be featured on an EP set to come out later this year on Apple Music.
The other artists featured for the series were Bad Bunny at Apple Piazza Liberty, Milan, Jessie Reyez at Apple Union Square, San Francisco, King Princess at Apple Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Lewis Capaldi at Apple Champs-Élysées, Paris, Daniel Caesar at Apple Covent Garden, London, and Ashley McBryde at Apple Michigan Avenue, Chicago.
With a 50-minute set that featured his greatest hits, Khalid danced and worked his way across the stage the entire night. And as he waved and fooled around with fans, he made sure everyone in the crowd was having just a great a time as he was.
Even taking a minute in the middle of the set to give a shout out to the friend who’s car he wrote a song in, Khalid was nothing short of charismatic, care-free and fun.

Considering we were standing near some big fans of 21-year-old megastar, it wasn’t surprising to hear fans react positively towards every single song. Throughout the night, all we heard was “I love this song!,” “This one’s my favorite!,” and “I can’t believe I’m here!”
And considering Khalid is currently in the middle of an enormous world tour — it spans from June to December — we’re sure everyone in the audience recognized how lucky we all were to experience this once in a lifetime show.
