Kris James has released his anthemic debut solo single, ‘Eyes Open’.
Produced by John Fields, ‘Eyes Open’ is a hopeful guitar-driven anthem which highlights someone in a bad situation coming to a realisation of truth, allowing them to walk away from someone who is causing them pain. The track hooks you in immediately thanks to the infectious melody, before Kris’ captivating vocals kick in.
But I know I’ve got to leave you now
But I’m not gonna be without, yeah
Cause I’ve got my eyes open, wide open now
Speaking about the track with The Sun, Kris said: “The song is about a bad break up, it’s an abusive relationship where you’re told you’re nothing. Then you remember your true colours. The message is that once your eyes are opened to it, you realise you will be alright on your own. And you will be better for it.”

We can expect a powerful music video for ‘Eyes Open’ very soon. Kris has been teasing a short clip of the video online, and speaking to The Sun he revealed that the video will highlight emotional abuse experienced by men.
“Any abuse is absolutely disgusting. But for the video I wanted to look at men being abused by their girlfriends. Some girls have ripped my best mates apart and it’s time to do something about it,” Kris said. “I want to highlight that emotional abuse. There have been so many stories about men taking their own lives because of abuse from their loved ones but we have realise it does happen.”
Kris is best known for being a member of The Scheme, who disbanded last year. During their time together, they band released an EP called Jerome Heights and toured with the likes of The Tide, Union J, Lemar and Ryan Lawrie.
Here at CelebMix, we can’t wait to follow Kris on his exciting new journey and wish him all the success as he ventures out as a soloist.
