Drax Project have unveiled the music video for their latest single, ‘Woke Up Late’ featuring Hailee Steinfeld, and it stars none other than YouTube sensation Liza Koshy.
Directed by Jonathon-Singer Vine and Executive Produced by Colin Tilley (Selena Gomez, Halsey, Cardi B), the visual sees Drax Project frontman Shaan Singh and Liza wake up together.
Realising that she is late for work, Liza rushes from the house and leaves her work keys behind. Determined to reunite Liza with her all important keys, Shaan chases after her. However, whilst Shaan frantically searches and tries to keep up with her, Liza is blissfully unaware as she dances her way through the sunny LA streets.
Speaking about the video, Drax Project said: “This was our first time shooting a video in LA and we couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work with. Liza Koshy is an absolute pleasure to be around and we were so grateful that she wanted to be a part of our video!
“Working with Colin was amazing too. He’s directed some of our favorite videos for some of our favorite artists, so to have the opportunity to work with him was incredible. Fingers crossed we’re able to work with him and his team again in the future!”
Speaking about the track and the filming experience, Liza added, “I relate to it strongly (I may have been late to set that day) – but I legit jammed out to the song via Spotify Pop Rising playlist before knowing I would be involved! I LOVE the song, I blast it in the car because it just makes me feel good!
“Watching the guys react to my dance moves, and meeting them – they’re so sweet… It was a ‘foreign’ experience, but refreshing, much better than Americans (HE HE).”
Since its release, ‘Woke Up Late’ featuring Hailee Steinfeld has garnered over 30 million streams worldwide. The track has charted in over 45 counties, including a number two spot on New Zealand Pop Radio, a debut on Billboard’s Pop Songs Chart, and number one on both iTunes and Shazam in New Zealand.
‘Woke Up Late’ was also handpicked as Zane Lowe’s World Record, and won ‘Single of the Year’ at the 2019 VNZMAs, where Drax Project also won ‘Breakthrough Artist’.
