It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Louis Tomlinson is one of the best songwriters of the modern era. He has honed his songwriting skills during his years in One Direction which he is immensely proud of. “I’m lucky enough to have a very loyal fanbase who want as much music from me as possible,” he says. He has also always been a fan-favorite artist and appreciative of his fans’ support and teamwork, so this feat is unsurprising.

Louis grew to fame when he auditioned for The X-Factor: Season 7 and was put into One Direction, together with other members and his pals Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne. Over the years, One Direction released five blockbuster hit albums, toured worldwide, and won multiple awards for their spectacular performances. One Direction may not have won the show but they become one of the most successful boybands in the history of the music with sales exceeding 100 million records, and won the hearts of millions of their fans around the world. In 2015, the band announced an extended hiatus to focus and explore their solo music careers and well, they have earned this well-deserved break.
On August 29, Louis announced that he will be releasing his new song next week, on September 5 titled “Kill My Mind”. He took to his social media to make the official announcement about the song title and release date, with the 27-year-old singer-songwriter posting a stunning black-and-white closeup of his face and the famous “28” tattoo in view, as the single’s official artwork. He captioned:
“So happy to finally announce my new single #KillMyMind will be out a week today! Soooooo excited for you all to hear what I’ve been working on!”

Louis later posted an Instagram story to share his excitement with his 13.8 million followers about the upcoming release #KillMyMind. “Kill My Mind” is being released a few months after Tomlinson released his beautiful and heartbreaking tribute to his late mother Johannah Deakin, “Two of Us” earlier this year. The single is lined up the next after the singer signed with Arista Records in February, this year.

In 2018, Louis won an iHeart Award for ‘Best Solo Breakout’. Along with winning many other awards, Louis has also won Teen Choice Awards for three years in a row now and an EMA Award for ‘Best UK & Ireland Act’ in 2017. He was ranked No. 5 on Billboard’s emerging artists of 2018 and has over 60 million combined followers on social media.
It is speculated that Louis will release his debut solo album next year. He also teased a tour in 2020 when he last appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden. We absolutely can’t wait for the upcoming single, album, music videos, tour and what not!
