American folk band The Lumineers have announced that they will be supporting the Irish rock group U2 during their 2017 US tour.

U2’s 30th Anniversary Joshua Tree Tour of America starts this May and runs through until June.

Speaking about supporting Bono’s band during their new shows, The Lumineers band member Wesley Schultz says:  “I can remember covering the U2 song “One” in bars back in NYC 10 years ago, with Jer on drums. A lot has changed since then, but still – I NEVER thought we’d get the chance to open for such a legendary band, on such a legendary album – The Joshua Tree. Their songs are so timeless and transcendent, it’s impossible to imagine a time when they didn’t exist. That type of songwriting has always been the mountaintop for us – songs that can transcend generations.”

The full list of U2’s US tour dates are as follows:

May 20 – Los Angeles, CA @ The Rose Bowl
May 24 – Houston, TX @ NRG Stadium
    May 26 – Dallas, TX @ AT&T Stadium
June 3 – Chicago, IL @ Soldier Field
June 7 – Pittsburgh, PA @ Heinz Field
June 18 – Philadelphia, PA @ Lincoln Financial Field
June 20 – Washington, DC @ FedEx Field
June 23 – Toronto, ON @ Rogers Centre
June 25 – Boston, MA @ Gillette Stadium
June 28 – East Rutherford, NJ @ MetLife Stadium

Pre-sale Tickets for The 30th Anniversary Joshua Tree Tour will go on sale from Friday, 13th, January via The Lumineers fan-club.
