American actress Melissa McCarthy has topped the U.S Box Office with her latest movie ‘The Boss’.
The Mike and Molly stars latest flick, sees her playing a female tycoon who, after a stint in prison tries to rebuild her life and empire.
‘The Boss’ was written and co-produced by Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone, and also directed by Falcone, as was her 2014 Box Office hit ‘Tammy’.
The new film from one of Hollywood’s most loved comedy actresses took in an estimated $23.48m in its first week, beating the huge Box Office smash-hit ‘Batman V. Superman’ which took $23.44m in its third week in cinemas across North America.
‘The Boss’ cost an estimated $29m to produce and was released in 3,480 locations across America.
To beat ‘Batman V. Superman’ into second place proves that McCarthy can hold her own with the biggest names in the movie business.
