The friendship between Olly Murs and the One Direction lads has always been a truly wonderful thing. It has provided us with lots of great material – we’re thinking about the Xtra Factor interviews, the backstage video of Niall and mister Murs singing ‘Heart Skips a Beat’, but mostly I’m thinking about the Halloween 2013 pictures. Harry was dressed up as Miley Cyrus, Olly was dressed as, well, we’re not entirely sure what it was but he didn’t wear a shirt either so we’re good.
But apart from their bodacious bodies, we do love Olly and the 1D guys for their music. And what could be better than our favs covering each other’s songs? Exactly, nothing. Which is why we were very excited to find out that Olly decided to sing One Directions wildly successful single ‘Drag me Down’ on the radio show of Australian comedy duo Hamish and Andy.
After stating that he “loves the 1D boys”, Olly proceeds to explain what is so good about the song. “Actually, when it came out, within like two or three times I listened to it I was like ‘oh my god, I know this song already’. It’s like really instantly hooky”. We couldn’t agree more.
Olly and his back-up singers then continue by showing us some dance moves that we would really really really like the 1D boys to incorporate in their tour choreography while simultaneously blowing us away with an amazing acoustic version of ‘Drag me Down’.
We’re looking forward to more musical surprises from these two – our vote goes to 1D covering Olly’s ‘Wrapped Up’ next. We think Niall would be thrilled to do the rapping part.
