Pandora has just launched a brand new playlist series called Listen In: a new way for artists to connect with listeners through music. Several artists and bands, such as 5 Seconds of Summer and Madison Beer, are a part of this series.
Listen In allows the artists to create a uniquely curated playlist that feature the songs they are listening to during the current global pandemic and unusual circumstances caused by COVID-19. It also includes commentary from these artists and bands about why they picked these particular tracks and how they are keeping themselves busy even in quarantine.
Michael Clifford of 5 Seconds of Summer opened up about the band’s playlist to Pandora: “A lot of it is songs that inspired the creation of ‘Calm’ and songs that we’re listening to right now.” He added that the tracks are “songs that help us (the band) feel inspired and motivated and happy during these times of isolation.”
These playlists give artists a space to discuss what or who is inspiring them right now as well as connect with both a new and previously established fanbase. During these very unpredictable times, music fans are now able to hear what exactly their favorite artists and musicians are up to and how they are keeping their spirits high.
This series not only gives those who create music another platform to share and talk about what they love most, but it also establishes common ground for fans and artists. During this pandemic, it is becoming even more prominent that we are all human beings going through the same things and living in the same world. This series breaks down the invisible artist-fan barrier in a creative way.
Other artists included in Pandora’s new series include All Time Low, The Chainsmokers and Flume. There is a wide variety of music genres presented through Listen In; giving fans and listeners a plethora of options to choose from.
