The ending of Pretty Little Liars got all of the fans talking about whether Marlene King had finished it that way so the show had gone full circle, or whether she had decided to create a spin-off show. We can now reveal that it is the latter and a spin-off show is currently in the works! As of now, we’re uncertain whether the spin-off show will continue with the girls we met at the end of the finale or if it’ll become a new cast. However, we’re sure the cast will be announced soon enough!
Freeform has picked up the pilot for what will be called Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, which will be based off of Sara Shephard’s young adult book series ‘The Perfectionists’.
Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists is set in the town of Beacon Heights where everything seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi.
Although it may not include all of the cast we have all grown to love and adore, Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish have confirmed that they will be reprising their roles as Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal. Reading the description above, the two ladies won’t be returning to Rosewood but to the new town of Beacon Heights. Could Beacon Heights be worse than Rosewood? It sounds impossible but we can never be too sure!
“Pretty Little Liars was a cultural phenomenon so it’s no wonder fans wanted more. We can’t wait to continue Marlene King’s rich and revolutionary storytelling with a new crop of leading ladies from Beacon Heights who will hold just as many secrets and lies as Rosewood did.” – Karey Burke, EVP, programming and development, Freeform.
“I’m beyond excited to continue my collaboration with Sara Shepard, Alloy, Freeform and Warner Horizon,” says Marlene King. “I can’t wait to introduce our fans – and Sasha and Janel – to a new world of thrills and chills in Beacon Heights.” – Marlene King.
