It’s 2021 and Rebecca Black is still looking forward to ‘Friday’.
This year, however, the pop star’s weekend is looking and sounding a little different.
Not just given the global goings on, but because Rebecca Black is back like you’ve never heard her before.
To celebrate viral hit ‘Friday’, the 23-year-old recruits Big Freedia, Dorian Electra and 3OH!3 for a hyperpop remix of the track, produced by Dylan Brady.
“I’d had the idea to do this remix of Friday for years leading up to now but honestly it was also mildly insane for me to think anyone else would want to be part of it,” Rebecca Black says.
“As I started talking about it with other artists and producers I couldn’t believe how stoked people were about it.”
The singer, who released her single ‘Girlfriend’ recently, appeared on Dorian Electra’s sophomore record My Agenda in 2020 – tackling the alt-right on ‘Edgelord’.
The duo unite again. Big Freedia, worldwide ambassador of Bounce music and Kesha collaborator on ‘Raising Hell’, is also on hand to provide a verse.
As too are noughties pop stars 3OH!3 who themselves are in the middle of a comeback with a series of new singles.
The ‘Friday’ remix lands with a colourful music video, trademark directed by Weston Allen – a cultural reset you do NOT want to miss.
Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’ remix is streaming now.
