Citing Charli XCX, Kim Petras and Lady Gaga as inspirations, you can hear all that and more on Kitty’s ‘Heart on Crack’.
The Parisian and Welsh pop singer offers up fizzing production and autotuned vocals which couldn’t be more à la mode.
‘Heart on Crack’ follows up on the soaring 2021 single ‘On Top’ and 2020’s debut record The Dark Age.
There’s links to be drawn with friend of CelebMix, Dorian Electra, too.
Just like Electra, Kitty is DIY minded, singing, writing, producing and creative directing every ounce of work herself.
On top of the pulsing pop and playful effects which nod to her contemporaries, Kitty adds sultry French vocals on ‘Heart on Crack’ to ensure she stays in a lane of her own.
She said: “This song was written after I had just come out of a long term relationship with someone who was very materialistic and saw my kindness as a weakness.
“My emotions felt out of control and I kept giving to the point where it felt like my heart was “on crack”.
“I think I was holding myself back as a person but also in my music, so going towards a more Hyper Pop sound felt like it was myself becoming ‘hyper’ me.
“It took me a long time to recognise what people saw in me as flaws as a strength and I wanted to write about how much richer it made me feel as a human being and seeing the value within myself as opposed to actual monetary worth.
“The video was mainly shot in my bedroom in Wales and we went for a DIY approach inspired by the 2000s cyber aesthetic and low budget hyper pop music videos”.
