Rita Ora has unveiled the wonderfully surreal music video for ‘How To Be Lonely’.

Directed by the acclaimed Dave Meyers, there is A LOT going on in this visual, but having spent almost 72 hours straight filming the release, there’s no doubt that it’s Rita’s most ambitious and cinematic offering to date.

Things start off fairly normally, with Rita feeling the loneliness as she is surrounded by couples. However, as soon as she is shot in the heart with an arrow, the visual takes a bizarre and other-worldly turn which we still haven’t fully taken in.

From walking on literal eggshells to getting cosy with a skeleton and a bear, being covered in insects to bathing in liquid gold, this visual definitely falls into ‘WTF’ territory yet we’re completely obsessed with it. If that wasn’t enough, the finale sees Rita and an alien take part in a galactic shootout, because why not?!

Speaking about the visual in a statement, director Dave Meyers said: “This video explores abstractly the emotions one feels when going through a breakup. It’s anger, longing, comfort, retreat, falling and of course loneliness. Ultimately suggesting that this is a necessary healing process that leads to the reawakening of one’s true self.”

Check it the visual for ‘How To Be Lonely’ below.

‘How To Be Lonely’ is Rita’s first release of 2020. Speaking about the track in a statement, she said: “Right now, it seems we are all trying to figure out how to find strength on our own. Many of us are separated from those we care about and aren’t used to being by ourselves.

“In a time when everything seems to be so uncertain, I hope this song brings comfort and connection to those who need it. We will get through this together. Stay home and stay safe, everyone.”

Referencing the current COVID-19 global pandemic, Rita has also joined forces with the United Nations to #StopTheSpread. The songstress has unveiled a range of merchandise with all profits going to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
