‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Trailer Shows Darth Vader

The new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, teases the return of the iconic Darth Vader! The trailer premiered during the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.

The events of Rogue One take place between Revenge of The Sith and A New Hope. The film focuses on a group of Rebel fighters who unite to steal the plans of the Death Star.

The cast includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed and Forest Whitaker.

The first Star Wars film came out in 1977, with A New Hope. It is part of the “original” trilogy, along with the 1980 movie, The Empire Strikes Back and 1983 film Return of The Jedi.

Its prequels, The Phantom Menace, Attack of The Clones, and Revenge of The Sith released in the years 1999-2005.

Most recently, Disney acquired the rights to Star Wars and created a “sequel” trilogy. The first is The Force Awakens, which broke several box office records and grossed over $2 billion worldwide.

Rogue One is not directly part of the Star Wars storyline and work as a spin-off movie. It is one of Star War’s upcoming anthology films, including an untitled Han Solo movie that is also reportedly in the works.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters December 16, 2016.
