TV presenter Ruth Langsford is swapping the This Morning sofa for sequins, as she’s just been confirmed as the third contestant on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Ruth, who is also a Loose Women panelist, was announced as the next celebrity to take part live on This Morning earlier today. Speaking about taking part, Ruth said: “I have dreamt about doing Strictly for so long, I can’t quite believe my dream has come true!”
“The sum of my dance experience is throwing a few shapes at a party, I’ve never had a dance lesson in my life. Without doubt it will be the scariest yet most exciting thing I’ve ever done. It will be a welcome change worrying about my next hot move instead of my next hot flush!”

Despite being incredibly excited about taking part, Ruth admitted she felt a little shaky and worried “about who would be able to lift me up.” Her husband Eamonn Holmes quipped about the Strictly curse, whilst co-presenter Rylan Clark-Neal couldn’t hide his happiness. He exclaimed, “I’m so excited! My telly mum’s going on Strictly. I’m going to be there every week crying!”

If Ruth needs any dancing advice, she can turn to fellow This Morning star Alison Hammond who competed on Strictly in 2014. She surprised everyone with her fabulous moves, teaming up with Aljaž Skorjanec.
Ruth will be joining The Saturdays’ Mollie King and Eastenders’ Davood Ghadami who have already been announced. With the announcements rolling in fast, we can expect more new celebrity names over the next few days.
