Sam Smith returns to the scene in serious style with the release of brand new single, My Oasis – an emotive, soulful slow jam featuring Nigerian singer and songwriter Burna Boy.
Released via Capitol Records, and co-written by Smith along with long-term collaborator Jimmy Napes and Burna Boy, the track received its official first play on Radio 1’s Annie Mac Show Thursday evening.
There’s nothing I can do when it comes to you…
Serving as the follow up to April’s To Die For, a duet with American powerhouse Demi Lovato, My Oasis sees Sam Smith long for a lover to be more present and attentive, as they open their heart and lay bare their soul with the promise of always being true to a relationship that once felt so pure and earnest.
With it melancholy sound, emotive Spanish guitar and killer verse from Burna Boy – all intertwined and mixed in with Smith’s distinctive and unique vocal stylings, My Oasis feels like an exciting musical step forward in the right direction for Sam Smith as they continue to drip feed teaser singles ahead of the release of their fourth studio album ahead of it’s unveiling later in the year.
“This track has been a beautiful release of emotions for me during this time.” Sam says of the single. “I’ve been a fan of Burna Boy for years now and so happy to have a tune with him.”
