Shannon Garcia, singer-songwriter from Cincinnati, has now released her musical debut “Spooky Action At A Distance” which was written in collaboration with Josiah Wolf and its music video is quite captivating.
This new track finds its inspiration from two separate places: one connecting to Garcia’s life and the other to a larger picture. “Spooky Action At A Distance” looks into the singer-songwriter’s past as well as Einstein’s quantum entanglement. This ultimately means the ability of two separate things to share a similar state or condition. The music video explores these themes and displays Garcia using sign language to connect with viewers.
The video was created in collaboration between the singer herself and Edmund Osterman. The lyrics of “Spooky Action At A Distance” are communicated through sign language as bubbles fly around Garcia and colors of the video change simultaneously. The time of certain clips has also been changed by several filming speeds to show the disconnect between viewers and Garcia. As a result of its concepts, viewers are able to connect to her as both an artist and a person.
“With quantum entanglement loosely in mind, filmmaker, Edmund Osterman and I manipulated time through filming at various speeds. Thus showing the speaker of the song is almost but not quite connected to the viewer. It was important to me to share this story through the use of one of the most beautiful languages, sign language,” Garcia revealed to CelebMix.
Through this new track, Shannon Garcia explores the idea of separating herself from her past. This is something many fans can relate to and often something many attempt to accomplish in life. “Spooky Action At A Distance” and its video ultimately reach optimism and as a result, portrays a hopeful and positive message for viewers that also allows them to learn more about Garcia as a person.
This track touches on an important subject and message. It is something new and relatable that music fans can connect to. By allowing fans to take an inside look into her personal struggles and life, Garcia’s connection to her audience continues to grow.
