The Sharon Lia band gearing up for the release of their eagerly anticipated new single ‘Anomie’. The track came about one very warm Sunday morning. The ice in Sharon Lia’s favourite drink had completely melted and had since left a puddle around her glass – this was a poetic casualty of what would eventually become the first verse of ‘Anomie’.
As Lia continued to write, the sunrise started to rise right along with the melody for the chorus. By the time morning had fully set in, the piano was closed and the bones of her new single had taken on a definite shape.
Everything leading up to that particular moment in Sharon’s life had played an integral part in that moment becoming a reality. Growing up in New Jersey, she spent her high school years playing piano in her school’s music room. All of this was done in private, until a music teacher taught her a lesson that stuck with Sharon ever since: “a creation isn’t a creation until you share it with someone” the teacher pointed out. That advice instantly translated into Lia’s first live performance in a talent show, one that firmly established in her the realisation that music is what she’s meant to do.
Now, The Sharon Lia Band are ready to release ‘Anomie‘ to the world this Tuesday, February 20th. The single was produced by Ivory and mastered by Ted Jensen in New York.
