Pop singer-songwriter Tamas Bulla recently dropped his new single/music video “Shower Thoughts.”
By the time he was 12, Tamas unveiled his first single/music video, “Out of Time.” Two years later, he is back with “Shower Thoughts,” a song literally conceived in the shower.
Listeners can feel the intensity reverberate through the speakers with an infectious chorus. The music video has sharp visuals conceptualized by the artist himself, as he sings his heart out under the running shower and dives deep into a backyard pool.
Combined, the song and the visuals emphasize the lyrical thrust of the song and work together to elevate Tamas Bulla’s creative vision.
CelebMix spoke with Tamas Bulla to find out more about the person behind the music, how he got started in music, and his writing process.
What three things can’t you live without?
Probably my phone, microphone, and at least 1 guitar.
What inspired your new single/music video, “Shower Thoughts?”
I was sitting in the shower thinking about how I hadn’t released a song in two years, and I knew many people were waiting for it. So, I started singing random things and I put the song together.
Who directed the video and where was it shot?
I was the director of the music video, and it was shot inside my house and in the backyard.
How did you get started in music?
I was 2 years old when my mom took me to an orchestra concert. I sat there for 2 1/2 hours straight staring at the people playing their instruments, and from that moment my mom knew that I loved music.
Where are you from?
My dad is From Hungary, my mom is from Romania (Transylvania), and I was born in Pennsylvania, but I live in New Jersey
Did your hometown impact your sound?
I wouldn’t say that it impacted my sound. I feel like the style is way different from where I’m from.
If you had to explain your sound to the uninitiated, what would you say?
I would probably say that I make pop music. I have a big voice with a kind of raspy sound.
Did your sound evolve naturally, or did you deliberately push it in a certain direction?
I don’t feel like I ever pushed it. So, yea I feel like it was all natural. But you can definitely hear a difference in the past few months.
What inspires your writing? Do you draw inspiration from poems, music, or other media?
Nothing really inspires me. I try the best that I can to do my own things and to be different than other musicians and celebrities.
What can you share about your writing process?
When I sit down to write a song, I usually look for a smooth-flowing writing session. If the lyrics don’t come to me, I don’t try going to them. I usually just scrap the idea and try another time because I believe that a song should come from the heart.
Which artists in your opinion are killing it right now?
I feel like what Charlie Puth did with the TikTok thing where he shows how he makes them is a really good idea. It is a great way of advertising an album or a song. I can tell that he loves what he’s doing, and I think he is a true musician.
How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t about money or nice things. It’s about earning people’s respect. Don’t get me wrong, money is nice, but if you don’t have anyone around you that you can trust, you will be sad and that could lead to many serious problems.
What can your fans look forward to over the next six months? Music videos? Live gigs?
I am already recording my next song. All I can say is that it’s gonna be a party/dance song that people can party to. I really hope you guys enjoy it. It will hopefully be out in the next 4-6 months.
