With just one month till the release of her seventh studio album ‘Lover’ next month, Taylor Swift has just released another song from the upcoming LP titled ‘The Archer.’
The song will be track number five on Lover and as loyal Swifties know, the fifth track on all six previous Taylor albums has always been the rawest and emotional that Taylor gets, and lyrically this song follows suit.
Flowing over an 80s synthetic beat, ‘The Archer’ touches on the emotions that Taylor has felt as of recently over loneliness, fears of nobody being able to stay in her complex and whirlwind lifestyle and stripping back her strong demeanour to beg the person to let her hold onto them. Keeping a soft vocal throughout the 3 and a half minute long track helps to further Taylor’s vulnerability through her lyrics:
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men, Couldn’t put me together again, Cause all of my enemies started out friends, Let me hold on to you…I’ve been the archer, I’ve been the prey, Screaming, ‘Who could ever leave me, darling’ But who could stay?”
Turning her vulnerability into art shows incredible strength from Taylor, who has been the subject of much backlash and hate during her career, but that has never once slowed the singer’s growth into one of the biggest stars to ever enter the music industry.
Fans are already going wild for the latest release from Miss Swift, taking to Twitter to share the excitement and emotions they are feeling from the track.
