When Phil Lord and Christopher Miller debuted The Lego Movie, everybody was cynical. The idea of making a movie completely based on a child’s toy seemed like a two-hour promotional advert for Lego at best. People thought it may be a cute kids movie but boy, how wrong they were.
Critics were proven wrong and that is putting it mildly. The movie went on to gross $469 million worldwide and people knew it was something fresh and different. Adults found that they could enjoy it as well as the kids so it was a win-win situation all round. It also sparked a collection of spinoff films and a sequel. Yesterday, Warner Bros. released the first teaser trailer for the spinoff movie for Lego Batman who was one of the more loved characters of The Lego Movie, voiced by Will Arnett.
It is time for this little toy to shine in his own feature film; The Lego Batman Movie. He is hilarious unlike his live-action movie counterpart who is currently battling it out against Superman in Dawn of Justice. Will Arnett is back voicing the gravel-voiced millionaire and Chris McKay, who was animation co-director and editor on the original movie, is directing.

The footage in this trailer is hilarious and already gives us a taste of what is coming to our screens. What other film can get away with 20 seconds of just Batman watching his lobster microwaving and still come across as charming and funny?

The Lego Batman Movie is set to hit theatres on Feburary 10th, 2017.
