American country music superstar Thomas Rhett has put together an all-star ensemble of global recording artists to join him on the powerful and inspirational release of his brand new single ‘Be A Light’.
The new track has been shared as a celebration of Rhett’s 30th birthday and was penned back last year with Josh Miller, Josh Thompson and Matt Dragstrem as a way to process the negativity and sadness he was seeing in the world at that time.
The soaring, emotive piano ballad sees the US singer uplifting others with thoughtful and poignant lyrics such as: “In a world full of hate/ Be a light/ When you do somebody wrong/ Make it right/ Don’t hide in the dark, you were born to shine/ In a world full of hate/ Be a light,”
The track which features guest vocals from country artists Reba McEntire, Chris Tomlin, Hillary Scott, and Keith Urban was not meant to be shared just yet, but due to the current crisis the world is facing right now with the global Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, Thomas Rhett urged his label team to release ahead of schedule.
Speaking about ‘Be A Light’, via Instagram Live Thomas said: “I wrote this song last year. This song was really just about being a light in a dark place; being an encouragement to people … We weren’t supposed to release this now, but I really felt like the song needed to come out today. I hope it puts a smile on your face in this crazy, crazy time.”
