Tinie Tempah has pulled out of tonight’s MOBO Awards.
The rapper, who is nominated for two awards, was due to perform at the ceremony in Glasgow’s SSE Arena, but has cancelled his appearance ‘for reasons that are outside of’ his and the MOBOs control.
Tinie made the announcement by sharing a hand written note on Instagram. He stated, “The MOBOs is a ceremony I have grown up watching and take pride in. It’s given a platform to so many artists, who have inspired me. So I always go above and beyond to attend. I am gutted to not be performing.”
The cryptic note continues, “I didn’t go into this much detail because I want to have a moan. I wrote this because my music and my culture is very important to me and this has been the same issue year after year.
“It is frustrating when music industry politics dictate my ability to celebrate either. It’s been a great year for British music, especially the underground. I will be watching and supporting.”

Earlier today, Professor Green was announced as a last minute addition to the line up. A whole host of other performers are also confirmed, including Craig David, Laura Mvula, Clean Bandit, and Chase and Status.
The MOBO Awards celebrates and recognises artists who create music of black origin. This year is the 21st anniversary, with Laura Mvula and Kano leading the pack with four nominations each.
You will be able to watch the MOBOs on ITV2 tonight from 8pm.
