Sellah is an exciting music artist and visionary who creates standout tracks. The rising star is a former NCAA basketball player who withdrew from college and moved to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in modelling and photography.
And then after working for a number of top agencies and publications, he earned a reputation for professionalism and commitment which led to opportunities in Africa, Europe, and Asia. He then went on to became the first black male model to work in Shanghai, China.
The with a view to broadening his skill set, Sellah relocated to New York to study acting before settling in South Africa. His hard work paid off and he steadily started to get acting and modelling jobs. This success led to the pivotal decision to pursue his true dream of becoming a music artist.
In 2012, Sellah fully committed himself to music and he is constantly motivated by both his triumphs and failures in the entertainment industry.
And now, he has shared his official music video for new single ‘Changes’. Speaking about the track, Sellah says: “The inspiration just came from me being in a place where I had become complacent and a bit too comfortable. I was still. Then, as life would have it, all of a sudden everything changed! It was as if everything around me was in a period of transition. Relationships, environment, just friction all around me. It really forced me to pivot, reflect, and readjust. I now know that it was growth that was taking place. Growth is uncomfortable, but when you embrace the changes, beautiful things can happen. That is where the lyrics “Changes got me looking back to my old ways” came to me”
The clip was filmed in South Africa, which is an important part of Sellah’s journey: “That period of transition brought me back to South Africa, where I’ve always wanted to shoot a music video, but hadn’t. Like I said, embracing the changes can bring about such beauty, and this time around, it brought me to a place in time where I was finally able to make a video happen. Cape Town is such a special place to me, so I wanted to highlight some popular places. I worked with a great local musician named Satya Jones here in South Africa, who has a film company called Satya Media. I am so proud of this work, am I’m hopeful those who see the video, and hear the lyrics will connect with and embrace it in their own beautiful way as well”
