We’ve got new music from this chart-successful Swedish female singer-songwriter, Wiktoria. Her new song is titled “Perfect Memory”, and serves as her first single since she signed to Sony Music Sweden. The song follows up her Christmas single “Not Just For Xmas“, which was released last year.
Wiktoria, full name Wiktoria Johansson, is best known for taking part in Sweden’s music talent show Melodifestivalen, which is used to select their entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest, every single year. She has competed two times, in 2016 and 2017 – we reckon she would’ve competed in 2018 too, but being an entrant three times in a row tends to be frown upon. In 2016, she placed fourth overall with her song “Save Me”; and then in 2017, she placed sixth overall with “As I Lay Me Down”. She also took part in Lilla Melodifestivalen, the national selection show for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, back in 2011, coming fourth with her self-penned track “Jag behöver dig” – which means “I Need You” in English. She also voiced Moana in the Swedish dub of the 2016 Disney film of the same name. Recently, she took part in Stjärnornas stjärna (which means The Stars’ Stars in English), which saw eight contestants take on musical challenges, with one being voted off each week, all hosted by Eurovision-favourite Petra Mede. Wiktoria came fifth in the show.
Now, she’s dropped “Perfect Memory”, following her previous announcement that she had signed with Sony Music Sweden – which just goes to show that she’s definitely a rising star, someone we all need to keep our eyes and ears on. According to Spotify, the song was written by Emily Phillips, Laura Oakes, and Robin George Howe (pka Howl Robin Howl).

The song jumps right in with her vocals, giving us quite a quick pace. Wiktoria’s vocals are beyond sweet until the chorus kicks in where she takes it up a notch alongside the beaty backing track. The song reminds us of something Calvin Harris, Chris Malinchak, or even Avicii would’ve dropped. It’s a very light track, that really gives off the love vibe. We would love to run away with the person we love; she urges her lover to just leave their town and go on to lead their perfect lives becoming a perfect memory.
