This is a team-up we totally needed in our lives as Yellow Claw collaborates with K-Pop icon, Sorn, for the hard-hitting bass track, “Cold Like Snow”. Yellow Claw definitely continues to inspire as they work with global artists from a variety of genres who are on top-form in their own countries, launching them to new audiences worldwide. This acts as the follow-up to Yellow Claw’s single “Hey Sensei” which featured SHACHI & $u$hiGirl; and Sorn’s single “Not A Friend”.
Yellow Claw are a well-known Dutch DJ duo consisting of Jim Aasgier (Jim Taihuttu) and Nils Rondhuis. They have accumulated over a billion streams across platforms and performed at some of the world’s biggest festivals. They have released four studio albums to date, the first three of which charted in their home country of the Netherlands as well as Belgium, and their first two albums also hit the US Billboard 200. They’ve had various hit singles in the Netherlands and Belgium, namely “Shotgun” featuring Rochelle – which also charted in Russia, and “Till It Hurts” featuring Ayden. They’ve worked with some of the most renowned and upcoming DJs, producers, and artists including Steve Aoki, DJ Snake, Diplo, Becky G, Ty Dolla $ign, Galantis, INNA, Saweetie, and many more. We even managed to interview them about their track “Bittersweet”. They continue to impress in the EDM world, not afraid to mix genres and collaborate with top stars from countries all over the world.
As for Sorn, real name Chonnasorn Sajakul, she is a talented Thai singer and internet sensation who has made a name for herself in South Korea. Rising to prominence as the winner of the first season of K-Pop Star Hunt in 2011, Sorn’s journey in the music industry took off when she became the first member of the K-Pop girl group CLC. With their debut album “First Love” in 2015, CLC made a splash, showcasing Sorn’s exceptional vocal abilities. Alongside her music career, Sorn has ventured into other creative endeavors, such as jewelry and makeup collaborations, releasing her jewelry collection “Rise” and her makeup line “Don’t Waste My Time” in collaboration with Kapsul Collective and VT Cosmetics, respectively. In 2021, Sorn embarked on a solo career, signing with Wild Entertainment Group and releasing singles like “Sharp Objects” and “Nirvana Girl”. With her incredible talent and undeniable charisma, Sorn continues to inspire fans around the world with her musical journey.
Written by Amanda Kongshaug, Chonnasorn Sajakul, Jim Taihuttu, Nils Rondhuis, Pauline Skött, Peter St James, Uladzislau Kouchuk, and Uladzislau Kulbitski, whilst it has been produced by Yellow Claw, “Cold Like Snow” is a vocal hard bass track that has a cinematic air to it with haunting melodies and a captivating rhythm. Sorn shines completely with her enigmatic vocals that hit listers right inside, from the get-go, and we can’t help but applaud Yellow Claw for stripping the track right back at the start of the first verse allowing Sorn to take the spotlight completely, undeniably launching her globally – we are willing to bet she’s gained fans from all over the world from this track alone. As the song develops, so does the track, with undercurrent progressive basslines that build around the chorus where Sorn sings about someone who doesn’t open up to her and she’s thinking about leaving, and then the drop happens. Once again, Yellow Claw surprises with a drop like no other, as cascading synths give way to undulating basslines that shouldn’t work, but totally does, pulling the listener out of their shock and into a rhythm that is bound to get us all moving. Those beats flow through the rest of the track, making the second drop just as epic. “Cold Like Snow” fuses hard-hitting bass with K-Pop star Sorn’s incredible vocals that are set to go off in the clubs this summer!
Talking about this track, Yellow Claw said: “After our first studio session in a hotel in Singapore, we invited Sorn over to Bali to work on the music some more. She came over and brought snacks. It was then, and there we knew we had a true friendship going on.”
Adding her thoughts on the single, Sorn said: “This project is very exciting for me because I never imagined I would get the opportunity to work with world-renowned producers/DJs like Jim and Nils. We started off spontaneously recording a demo in a hotel room in Singapore, then I flew over to Bali to finish the song, and before I knew it, we were performing on the main stage at a festival in my hometown in Thailand and then at Marquee Singapore, which was my first club performance. I never thought I’d be able to be a part of such amazing opportunities, and I’ve learned so much working with the guys. I really hope my fans will enjoy this track that myself and the guys made together.”
