Usually, it’s the originals that top charts. But in the year 2015, a remix made its way to the top and became a party anthem across the globe.

Seeb’s remix of I Took A Pill In Ibiza was released in the United States on July 24, 2015, and made its way to top 10 of the charts in 27 countries. The original acoustic single by Mike Posner was taken up by this Norwegian trio and turned into a party mix, making everyone groove to the track.

Seeb comprises of Norwegian musicians, producers and DJ’s Espen Berg, Simen Eriksrud and Nick Strand. Recently, they released a single “Under Your Skin” which was selected as the theme song for X Games Norway 2017. They are now focusing on making more music and planning to get an album ready by the end of this year.

CelebMix got a chance to talk to Seeb over an email interview. They told us about their musical inspirations, how do they select songs for remix and much more. Check out the full interview below:

Most of the people know Seeb as the “remixers who brought I Took A Pill In Ibiza to the top”. But, we would like our readers to know who Seeb really are. So, how did you guys meet and how has been your journey so far?

I (Simen) met Espen in his studio long time ago since I wanted him to produce my own band. That never happened, but we became good friends and have been working together since that time. We met Nick after entering the global DJ scene, and since he was such a cool guy and didn’t have a band we decided to team up. We stepped out of the comfortable surroundings in our studio in Oslo after having big success as remixers, and now we’re focusing on making great music together with great artists. Also, we’re touring around the world to meet our fans and spread our music.

Who came up with the name Seeb?

Espen said in 2015 to me (Simen) that we need to find a name for our project since we started putting remixes out on Soundcloud. After 100 names, of which none were any good, we just put together our initials.

How would you define your music?

Melancholic, uplifting music with a focus on great melodies and vibes.

Who inspires you when it comes to making music?

People who are not afraid to think outside the box when creating music, like Skrillex for instance.

Your song “Under Your Skin” was selected as the official theme song for X-Games Norway 2017. How did you feel?  What was your first reaction when you heard the news?

We were so happy, X Games is huge, and this was a great way for us to show the world our new single.

Please tell us a bit about your collaboration with R City, how did that come about?

We came in touch with R City through their label, and the first idea was only to do a remix, but it turned out so well it became a collaboration instead.

It won’t be wrong to say that it was your remix that made I Took A Pill In Ibiza popular. The song became an instant hit. How did the idea to remix this acoustic track come to you?

We were contacted by Mike’s label who asked us if we wanted to remix one of the songs on his EP. We heard all the songs and fell in love with I Took A Pill In Ibiza because of the amazing lyrics and melancholic melodies. We then created the space we felt fitted the vocals, added a drop to the song and have been grateful ever since.

You have remixed songs of artists including Shawn Mendes and Coldplay. How do you select songs to remix?

For us, it’s all about the vocals, not just the melody or lyrics, but also the emotional quality of it. Artists like Chris Martin and Shawn Mendes share a special way of communicating, a unique way of telling a story, and that is why we wanted to remix them.

When can we expect an album from Seeb?

We are currently spending a lot of time in the studio so hopefully, we’ll have an album ready at the end of this year.

Would you like to share with us, your plans for 2017?

Make more great music, have a lot of fun. Also, we’re gonna do amazing live shows around the world including Norway, Sweden, Finland, Spain, and the USA.

Under Your Skin is out now. You can download it here.
