We’ve got another contender for the song of the summer! Rudimental have teamed up with James Arthur to deliver their new single, ‘Sun Comes Up’.

The track opens with a gentle melody before an infectious beat kicks in which compliments James’ vocals. The chorus is euphoric and tinged with steel drums which creates the perfect summer atmosphere. We can already imagine that this song will be electric live and we can’t wait to bop along to it at future festivals.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Kesi Dryden (one fourth of Rudimental) stated: “The song is actually about a relationship breakup and how there is a new day when the sun comes up. But when James heard the song he said the message he got from it was there has been a lot of negative times in the past but when the sun comes up it is a new day, you have a new chance. There was a new lease of life he got from it.”

Rudimental are known for teaming up with incredible male singers. With past singles featuring the iconic vocals of John Newman and Ed Sheeran, James Arthur completely steps up to the mark and fits in perfectly on the track. Speaking about their choice of singer, Rudimental said: “We spent a long time looking for the right singer for it, and were close to giving up until we met James Arthur; he sang it and we were blown away.”

Take a listen to ‘Sun Comes Up’ below.

‘Sun Comes Up’ is Rudimental’s first single of 2017. The drum and bass quartet, made up of Kesi Dryden, Piers Agget, Amir Amor and DJ Locksmith, have been busy working on new material, with a new studio album expected soon. Speaking about their forthcoming material, they said: “We aren’t afraid of taking new directions, and our new material has stepped up to another level. We’ve travelled the world far and wide and finally we feel like we’ve returned home on this album. We can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”

The track marks another great achievement for James Arthur, who’s been on fire since his comeback last year. ‘Sun Comes Up’ follows on from his latest single ‘Can I Be Him’, taken from his platinum-selling album Back From The Edge. James will be embarking on a UK arena tour in November.

‘Sun Comes Up’ is available now.
