15 Female Pop Bangers You Might’ve Missed This Summer

The U.K.’s long hot summer may be coming to an end, but there’s no need to start your winter hibernation yet. CelebMix is on hand with 15 female-fronted pop bangers to make sure the summer party continues into September.

Love Me Again – Raye feat. Jess Glynne

Raye kicked off August’s new releases with her comeback single ‘Love Me Again’. Fresh off the back of penning Beyoncé’s Lion King hit ‘Bigger’, the Brit turned “tears swelling in my eyes and a broken heart” into an 80s-esque banger.

Bring Jess Glynne onto that track, who couldn’t help but slide into Raye’s DMs after hearing the original, and you’ve got an unmissable duet on your hands.

    Live Forever – Nasty Cherry

Charli XCX’s side project are fast blossoming into a kick-ass rock group. That’s certainly the case if latest single ‘Live Forever‘ is anything to live by. A middle-fingers up case of soft-rock born to be blasted in a convertible driving down Hollywood Boulevard, you don’t want to miss out on the fun.

Mama – Ella Eyre, Banx & Ranx, Kiana Ledé

From the team that brought you the insanely catchy ‘Answerphone’ in 2018, Ella Eyre and Banx & Ranx are at it again on ‘Mama‘. Kiana Ledé joins in on the Brazillian funk fun in a rattling pop flick whose growing radio play is hardly surprising.

    Tonight – Alice Chater

Alice Chater is fast becoming one of the world’s worst kept pop secrets, as more and more discover the 24-year-old all-out performances. Soaring vocals carry this plucky end of the world hit.

    Left Me Yet – Daya

Famous for her vocals on The Chainsmoker’s ‘Don’t Let Me Down’, Daya is a singer and songwriter in her own right. Her summer single ‘Left Me Yet’ has had love from Nicholas Grimshaw on Radio 1 and you can see why as its pulsing chorus kicks in.

Flash Pose – Pabllo Vittar feat. Charli XCX

Brazilian drag queen and performer Pabllo Vittar is not known for singing in English, normally preferring her native Portuguese, but for ‘Flash Pose’ she makes her first foray into English-language hitmaking. Charli XCX adds a trademark verse to the AlunaGeorge penned banger.

    Hanging On – RVBY

CelebMix thought that RVBY had already released her song of the summer thanks to ‘Honey Bee’. However, with latest spiralling single ‘Hanging On’, the tunes keep coming.

Self Love – Call Me Loop

If anyone knows how to write a pop song, it’s Call Me Loop. Off the back of her Drama EP, Loop released feel-good single ‘Self Love’. A worthwhile message with a catchy beat – it’s a recipe for a summer smash.

    TAPED – Naaz

Naaz packs a punch on latest single ‘TAPED’. An outspoken track you’ll be singing for days, Naaz also recently toured Europe with Hayley Kiyoko.

    Lonely Night – ALMA

First, there was ‘Dye My Hair’, then there was ‘Chasing Highs’, now there’s ‘Lonely Night‘. ALMA knows how to find her way around a big chorus and tender verses and sticks to that recipe this summer ahead of her debut album later this year.

    PDA – Emily Burns

Quite how Emily Burns hasn’t blown up yet is past us. Her singer/songwriter hits are steadily propelling her name up the industry, and ‘PDA’ is a track to rival the best.

    Sunday Morning – Hamzaa

Leaning to the more easy-going side of the word banger, Hamzaa’s breezy summer EP Phases is all you need for a warm morning. ‘Sunday Morning’ is, indeed, the standout moment of an exciting EP.

    Pictures – ECÂF

No-one is too sure who ECÂF is and how she relates to Ruel (see his ‘Face To Face’ music video). In fact, some fans even think it is Ruel himself… Whoever it may be, ‘Pictures’ is a grungy club-ready flick you shouldn’t be missing out on.

Freaking Me Out – Ava Max

Ava Max has been releasing track after track this summer. ‘Freaking Me Out’ is a plucky pop effort that sounds like it could have come straight from Ed Sheeran’s songwriting catalogue – see Rita Ora’s ‘Your Song’ and Anne-Marie’s ‘Perfect’.

    July – Noah Cyrus

Another slower track, Noah Cyrus goes back to her country roots on ‘July’. Beauty lying in its simplicity, you’ll struggle to find someone who can’t love this one.

Whose popstresses’ songs have you been pumping this summer? Got one that should be on this list? Let us know @CelebMix on Twitter.
