The NBC network has renewed America’s Got Talent for its 12th season. Bob Greenblatt, from NBC, announced the renewal at the Television Critics Association press tour on Tuesday. All four of the judges will be back – Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel. Nick Cannon will also return to host the reality show.
America’s Got Talent is the number 1 broadcast series this summer. With high ratings, it is no wonder that the show is coming back for another season!
Paul Telegdy, the President of Alternative and Reality Group at NBC entertainment, stated, “With the addition of Simon, the chemistry between our judges has grown even stronger and it’s easy to see how much enthusiasm they bring to the show night after night.” He also thinks that “Nick adds a boundless energy as host that ties everything together.” Overall, all of the judges and Nick are a strong team that captivate the viewers at home.
The constant viewers every week makes this season the most-watched season in five years. The reality shows averages a 3.0 rating, and most of its viewers range from 18-49 years.
Simon Cowell originally created this show for the UK. In America, this will be his second season. For both Mel B and Heidi Klum, this will be their fifth season, and the eighth for Howie Mandel. It will also be the ninth season for Nick Cannon.
America’s Got Talent airs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. eastern time.
