We don’t often write things about the music business here at CelebMix, but we felt we had to make an exception for Arista Records.Usually other than if our faves release a new song or maybe move labels etc, we don’t really talk about industry news, so this article is a little different for us. The last time we did something like this when we talked about what makes a good artist manager.
Recently we’ve been listening to some of the amazing tracks being put out by artists signed to Arista Records.
Arista Records was relaunched in 2018 by Sony Music, in the very capable hands of David Massey. The label was originally founded in 1974 by Clive Davis. It was the home to some of the most iconic names in the industry including Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick.
Since it’s relaunch under Dave Massey (former Island Records president/CEO) he and the new team at Arista have been building up a roster full of creative trailblazers who span nearly every musical genre and have wide based appeal.
With such a strong mix of established and new talent Arista is fast becoming a label to reckon with. It’s approach is simple, The label has a small but strong roster all who showcase unique voices and song writing talents. with it’s clear mandate of developing and supporting them while create their music in a form that is just totally them. It is a family!
The label is keen to utilize social media so all it’s roster and even the label itself have strong social media presences to cultivate and grow meaningful relationships with their artists fan bases.
Below we’ve picked some of their acts we really like, who we think signify and embrace the creative and artist led ethos the label has.
Audrey, was self-releasing her own work until she was recently signed to the label,She’s a true creative and a total daydreamer; her inspiration comes from her own very active and varied imagination. Time is her first release through the label.
Courtney is a singer-songwriter who became known for competing on the ITV’s The Voice Kids UK 2017 and the thirteenth season of the NBC show America’s Got Talent.
Multi-platinum artist Dennis Lloyd has released his “Spotify Singles”. Spotify Singles includes a stripped-down cover of Audioslave’s Like a Stone featuring Tom Morello.
Dennis Lloyd confided that Audioslave and especially Chris Cornell's vocals were very inspiring to him. I’m happy to have joined him on his beautiful cover of Like A Stone. He’s a great new artist and has really done justice to the tune. Check it out on Spotify: https://DennisLloyd.lnk.to/SpotifySingles #SpotifySingles

Digital Farm Animals has worked with many of today’s top artists. Including fellow label mate Louis Tomlinson. They teamed up in 2017 to release Back To You, with Bebe Rexha.
Digital Farm Animals most recent single is called Drowning.
Julian Lamadrid is a pop synth lovers dream. He self directed the video for Mess ( one of our favorite songs by him), which talks about realizing you are not in the best head space, mentally.
He has just released his latest single Neon, and his album Mala Noche will be released later this year.
Mackenzie Zeigler, or Kenzie as she’s known to her ardent and loyal fanbase, rose to fame on the TV show Dance Moms. Since then she’s gone on to amass a huge following on social media, has already released one album and has just wrapped up a tour with PRETTYMUCH.
Her latest single is called HOT.
Singer/Songwriter Louis Tomlinson is arguably one of Arista’s more high profile artists. Louis is known for being a member of boy band One Direction. He honed his craft as songwriter in the band, responsible for writing over 30 of their hits.
As a solo artist he’s continued to showcase his distinctive voice, writing songs which have a meaningful and lasting impact on the listener.
He is currently gearing up to release his latest track, Kill My Mind.
Sophia brought a song we couldn’t get out of our head. moneydontfixlonely.
And then she released offyourface, and that got stuck in our heads to. And then we realized it’s what Sophia does, She is an artist who creates songs from relatable experiences and turns them in to catchy songs that you can’t get out of your head.
She has just released the lyric video for What Am I Gonna Do With You.
Stephen Puth, does the name sound familiar? It should he is the younger brother of singer Charlie Puth. Singer/song writer Stephen who says he’s a melody guy, when he starts a song that’s where he starts, has released some great tracks in the past 12 months including Sexual Vibe and Half Gone.
His latest single Look Away (written with his brother) is out now.
Drugs by Upsahl is one of those songs you listen to, and then you listen again and think, ok this is good. The lyrics are real and straight talking. It’s from her Hindsight 20/20 EP.
She is currently on tour with TessaViolet. And tomorrow she starts dropping Hindsight 20/20: The Videos.
