Luca Hänni is a Swiss singer-songwriter and model who will be representing Switzerland at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “She Got Me”.
Born in Bern, Switzerland, Hänni attended drums lessons and taught himself to play piano and guitar from an early age.
The singer rose to fame in 2012 after winning the ninth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar (Germany’s version of Idol), beating runner-up Daniele Negroni in the final after receiving 52.85% of the final vote.
Hänni’s win earned him a recording contract with Universal Music Group and his coronation and debut single “Don’t Think About Me” reached number one in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. This achievement made him the first Swiss to reach the number one spot in Germany for fifty-two years.
Weeks later, Hänni’s debut album My Name is Luca was released. This also hit number one in Switzerland and Austria and narrowly missed out on the top spot in Germany.
In the following years, Luca released a further three albums; Living The Dream, Dance Until We Die with Christopher S and When We Wake Up. These reached number one and six respectively in his home country. As well as this, he has released a number of singles including “Powder”, “Shameless” and “Signs”.
