It may be 2020 and the world may not be at its best, but it hasn’t stopped many artists releasing songs and this week saw Basshunter drop a brand new single, titled “Angels Ain’t Listening”. He also released a lyric video to accompany the track. This release follows-up last year’s single “Home”.

Basshunter, real name Jonas Altberg, is a Swedish DJ superstar who first hit it big in Europe with the Swedish song “Boten Anna” and with the follow-up “Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar DotA” before transforming both songs into English versions titled “Now You’re Gone” and “All I Ever Wanted”. The former hit the UK Charts hard, peaking at number one and becoming a club hit around Europe, the latter almost followed suit but peaked at number two. His debut UK album also became a hit, charting at number one on the UK Albums Chart, it is officially his second studio album following “LOL <(^^,)>” which was available in most countries, charting globally. He continued to release new music including “Angel In The Night”, “Every Morning”, and “Saturday”, which all charted in the UK Top 40. Two more studio albums followed, “Bass Generation” and “Calling Time”. He was also known for his music videos as they continued a storyline starring Lucas Thorheim and Aylar Lie as well as Basshunter, himself; however, his later music videos stopped all narrative, with the exception of “Northern Line”. He was also a contestant on the seventh series of Celebrity Big Brother where he came fourth. Now, he’s on to a brand new era and it’s good to see him releasing new music with the likes of “Masterpiece” and “Home”.

This new song, “Angels Ain’t Listening”, was written by Bilal Hajji, Jimmy Thörnfeldt, Jonas Altberg, and Thomas G:son, whilst it has been produced by Jimmy Jocker. As for the lyric video, it stars Oskar Sternulf and was directed by Jay Vazquez (Jay Veesualz).

Watch The Lyric Video To Basshunter’s New Song “Angels Ain’t Listening” Here:

Tackling loneliness at probably one of the more poignant moments in time as many people around the world are feeling lonely what with the way the world is at the moment, Basshunter brings it with “Angels Ain’t Listening”. Impressing with a deep vocal that allows us to feel his honesty and his integrity, this Swedish superstar isn’t holding back. Overall, the track feels very ’80s with disco-themed vibes running throughout this dance number; it reminds us of the Pet Shop Boys, like a song they would’ve done. It’s an interesting new side to Basshunter, and we’re excited to see where this goes.

As for the lyric video, we watch Oskar Sternulf try to deal with his loneliness, and attempting to be himself, and love himself for who he is. It’s an interesting concept and adds to the track brilliantly, although it’s a little over the top – but we guess that’s what happens when you loneliness starts to hurt.

“Angels Ain’t Listening” is available to download and stream right now, via PowerHouse.
