Coronation Street star Beverly Callard has quit the show after playing Liz McDonald for 30 years.
The actress told bosses at ITV her plans to leave the show earlier on in the month. The news of Beverley leaving the soap was today confirmed by ITV. She will depart at the end of her contract meaning that Liz McDonald will still be seen on-screen until summer 2020.

Liz has gifted the cobbles with some unforgettable moments, fantastic drama, heartache and comedy. She might be the unofficial queen of the cobbles however there is no doubt that she is a true icon of Coronation Street.
The Corrie icon took to her social media today to thank her fans for their support and kind words in regards to her character and leaving the soap opera as fans rushed to comment on the news of her leaving the show.
Liz has never failed to shock the audience and viewers can expect the character to leave ‘with a bang’ as she has a huge storyline lined up. She has teased her leaving storyline explaining “I’ve been told Liz is going to go with one hell of a bang. I can’t wait.”
Recently, Beverly has been starring in theatre production The Thunder Girls, written by Melanie Blake.
She has been performing alongside Coleen Nolan, Sandra Marvin and Carol Harrison. The production is set to go on tour in the UK next year. You can find out all the dates and get tickets via The Thunder Girls website.
