After days of speculation, Big Hit Entertainment has finally revealed the first look of the new boy group Tomorrow_X_Together aka TXT. Last year, the label confirmed their plans to debut a new boy group in 2019. While the agency confirmed the debut, the representatives did not reveal the concept and the actual number of members. TXT being a “five-member boy group” is still a speculation.
Launching their official social media platforms and YouTube channel today, Big Hit has revealed the logo as well as the first member of the group.
In an introduction film “What Do You Do?”, we can see Yeonjun playing around. He finds a companion in a teddy bear but amidst the fun activities that he carries out, one can sense his loneliness. That is, his joy is not reciprocative. As the label prepares to reveal rest of the members, it will be interesting to see what new concept will be put forth. As an individual, Yeonjun seems to exude warmth and innocence but how he would fit in the narrative, only time will tell.
TXT is the first group in six years to debut under the label. BTS have cemented their place in the music industry as influencers and trend setters but a major credit of their success goes to individual members’ consciousness as an artist.
Be it RM, Suga, Jungkook, V, Jimin, J-Hope or Jin, BTS is not just group but a set of 7 musicians and creators who grew through their music. The debut of TXT will offer a perspective on Big Hit’s vision as an entertainment company. With 2 groups and a solo artist under its belt, it will be interesting to see how would the label attempt to differentiate itself from the competitors.
