CNCO, made of five members all from different parts of Latin America – Christopher (Ecuador), Erick Brian (Cuba), Joel (Mexico), Richard (Dominican Republic) and Zabdiel (Puerto Rico) – got their start in 2015 from Univision’s La Banda, a Simon Cowell-produced reality show set on finding the next big Latin boyband. After rounds of auditions, Christopher, Erick Brian, Joel, Richard and Zabdiel came out on top and did just that.
Since 2015, the guys have released two albums, Primera Cita and CNCO, both of which topped the Billboard Latin Albums Chart. They have also toured with Latin music icons Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, and Pitbull and collaborated with acts such as Little Mix, Becky G, Meghan Trainor, Sean Paul, and Leslie Grace. The five-piece has also won numerous awards, including Latin American Music Awards, Premios Juventud, Premios Tu Mundo, Latin Billboard Awards, among many others.
CNCO is surely taking over the music industry, and with their latest single, “Pretend,” which is sung in both Spanish and English, they are taking steps to reach a bigger audience.
