Former Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac is the seventh celebrity to be confirmed for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The news was announced on Strictly’s official Twitter page earlier today.

Danny, who played Dodger Savage on the Channel 4 soap, said: “I’m as terrified as I am excited! I’ve done a few bits and bobs of secret filming for the show and it’s all become very real now.”
I can’t believe that I am now part of the biggest show on television, and I cannot wait to get started.
The actor had some dance training in college, however, he dismissed speculation that it would help him on Strictly. He said: “I first danced at college when I was 18. That was the first time I’d ever worn a pair of tights or a dance belt! I worked hard at it but it’s safe to say when I graduated all my dance gear went in a bag in the loft and hasn’t been seen since!”
Danny also revealed that he was worried about getting negative comments from the judges. He explained: “I am terrified of them all! I get judged every day of my life as an actor so I am used to it, but I hate not being able to do something and they are going to be the ones to tell me – in front of millions!”
He added, “I do like a bit of tough love though so I will take it and deal with it… I hope.”
Danny Mac joins six other contestants who have already been confirmed for this year’s show. He will be competing against Ed Balls, Will Young, Laura Whitmore, Ore Oduba, Melvin Odoom and Louise Redknapp.
Further announcements are expected over the coming days. The new series of Strictly Come Dancing will start next month.
