Emma Blackery has unveiled ‘Icarus’, the latest single to be taken from her forthcoming debut album, Villains.
Whilst her previous two releases ‘Dirt’ and ‘Agenda’ were huge pop anthems, ‘Icarus’ showcases a different side to Emma. Produced by Toby Scott (Little Mix, Girls Aloud, The Saturdays), ‘Icarus’ is a stunning stripped back ballad about rising above problems and dealing with pressure. The track has an easy listening vibe which allows Emma’s distinct vocals to take centre stage.
Oh well, Icarus, Icarus
Why you so serious, serious?
You know you’ve gotta let it go
Cause you’re flying too close
Speaking to a fan on Twitter, Emma said: “The song is about retaliating to the people who want to see you fall, and looking like a fool.”
The song is about retaliating to the people who want to see you fall, and looking like a fool. Public online fights, getting involved in drama for everyone to see, and then regretting it. Totally can’t relate. https://t.co/8b7vFXsF59
