This year the annual Cambridge Folk Festival will be taking place across the weekend of August 1st – August 4th at the Cherry Hinton Hall. Taking to the stages across the event will be a wide variety of folk, Americana and Country acts such as Sarah Darling, Lucy Ward, Amy Montgomery and many, many more.
And taking over from last year’s guest curator Rhiannon Giddens, is local lad Nick Mulvey. Speaking about the honour, Mulvey says: “Growing up as I did in Cambridge, I was very flattered to be asked to do this. It seemed like a fun thing to do and something I have never done before. I’ve chosen bands and musicians that I love, rather than approaching the curating in any particularly conceptual way or with an overarching idea. My first Folk Festival was 2012 when I was at the beginning of my solo career as a musician. I played The Den and was able to play my songs and build my audience from a festival stage, before I had a record deal or any such thing. I’m grateful for stages like the Den.”
For his chosen acts, Nick has picked a wide variety of artists to perform, the full list of performers is as follows:
Imarhan, Catrin Finch & Seckou Keita, Rachael Dadd Chartwell Dutiro, Fofoulah, while showcase artists are Maz O’Connor, Lietenant Leek, Bryony Griffith Picapica, Becky Langan, and AK Patterson.
