After an emotional and heartfelt third season, Heartstopper fans are eagerly awaiting any news about a potential season four. Nick and Charlie’s journey continues to captivate audiences worldwide, but will Netflix bring the beloved duo back for another chapter? Here’s everything we know so far about a possible Heartstopper season four.

Will Heartstopper Be Renewed for Season 4?

As of now, Heartstopper hasn’t officially been renewed for a fourth season. However, creator Alice Oseman has shared her hopes for the show’s future. In an October 2024 interview with Netflix Tudum, Oseman confirmed that there’s still more story left to tell. The show is based on Oseman’s graphic novels, and with a sixth and final book on the horizon, the material is certainly there.

Talks are reportedly ongoing with Netflix and the production team, leaving fans optimistic that we’ll get to see Nick, Charlie, and their friends back on our screens soon. Oseman remains determined to “tell the end of the story in TV form,” though she admits there are many factors at play. Fingers crossed Netflix gives us the news we’re all waiting for!

When Could Season 4 Be Released?

With no official renewal, there’s no confirmed release date for Heartstopper season four just yet. That said, we can make an educated guess based on the show’s previous timeline. Seasons one, two, and three dropped consistently a year apart, with season three premiering in October 2024.

If Heartstopper is renewed soon, fans could potentially see season four land on Netflix sometime in late 2025. While we wait, we’ll have to settle for rewatching the earlier seasons and revisiting the books.

Who Will Be in the Cast?

It’s hard to imagine Heartstopper without its leading pair, Joe Locke as Charlie Spring and Kit Connor as Nick Nelson. Both actors have become fan favourites, and they’re expected to return for season four if it happens.

Alongside them, the show’s core group of friends would likely reprise their roles:

    • Yasmin Finney as Elle
    • William Gao as Tao
    • Corinna Brown as Tara
    • Kizzy Edgell as Darcy
    • Tobie Donovan as Isaac
    • Rhea Norwood as Imogen
    • Jenny Walser as Tori
    • Leila Khan as Sahar

Fans are also hoping for the return of Olivia Colman as Nick’s warm and loving mum, Sarah Nelson. Colman’s absence in season three was definitely felt, and her presence adds an irreplaceable charm to the series. Here’s hoping scheduling conflicts don’t stand in the way this time!

What Could Happen in Season 4?

Season three left us on a hopeful note, but challenges still lie ahead for Nick and Charlie. The looming question of Nick’s university plans remains unresolved, and the possibility of a long-distance relationship could test the couple in new ways.

Throughout Heartstopper, Nick has been a constant source of support for Charlie during his struggles with mental health. Season four might explore how Charlie copes if Nick decides to leave for university. In an interview with Digital Spy, Kit Connor described Nick’s journey as a “very positive thing,” hinting that growth and self-discovery could ultimately strengthen their relationship.

Elsewhere, Elle and Tao’s relationship continues to flourish, but Elle’s university plans could also introduce new challenges. Tao’s unwavering support has been heartwarming to watch, but as Elle’s departure becomes more real, we might see the pair face moments of tension.

Isaac’s journey of self-discovery was a highlight of season three. His exploration of his aromantic and asexual identity was beautifully handled, and fans are hoping for more of his solo story in season four. Similarly, Imogen’s revelation about her queerness has opened the door for a compelling narrative as she navigates this new chapter of her life.

There’s plenty of story left to tell, and Heartstopper fans will be eagerly awaiting how these characters continue to grow.

Is There a Trailer for Heartstopper Season 4?

Sadly, no trailer for Heartstopper season four exists yet. With no official renewal, the show isn’t in production, so fans will have to be patient. In the meantime, Alice Oseman’s graphic novels remain the best place to get a glimpse of what could come next for Nick, Charlie, and the rest of the gang.

For now, you can stream Heartstopper seasons 1-3 on Netflix.
