The BBC has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the hotly anticipated second series of The Celebrity Traitors, giving viewers their first proper look at this year’s star-studded cast.
Set inside a darkened church, the 30-second teaser sees Claudia Winkleman take on the role of a rather sinister celebrant as the celebrities sit solemnly in the pews. “A moment of silence for the celebrities gathered today,” she tells them, before adding: “Thoughts and prayers.”
Among those glimpsed in the trailer are Michael Sheen, Richard E. Grant, Maya Jama, Miranda Hart, Ross Kemp, Rob Beckett and The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey.
They will be joined by an eclectic line-up including James Acaster, Joe Lycett, Romesh Ranganathan, James Blunt, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Hannah Fry and Myha’la.
Returning to the Scottish Highlands, the 21 celebrities will once again be divided into Faithfuls and secret Traitors, battling through challenges, banishments and “murders” as they attempt to outwit one another – all while competing to raise money for charity.
Following the huge success of the first series, which attracted an average audience of 14.9 million viewers, expectations are high for its return.
An exact premiere date has yet to be announced, but The Celebrity Traitors series two is coming soon to BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
