James Arthur’s comeback is becoming more almighty by the second. The singer’s new album, Back From The Edge, has gone straight in at number one on the official UK album charts.
Selling 41,000 copies in the first week, Back From The Edge had the fourth highest opening sales for a male solo artist this year. James, who won The X Factor in 2012, is also only the second X Factor winner to score a number one with their second album.
Of his number one album, James said: “My mind is blown. I can’t believe I’m in this position. I’m so humbled and so grateful to be here. This would not have been possible without the people that played some part in getting this album made and out there. And of course none of this would be possible without the support of my incredible fans. Thanks for believing in me X.”
Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, James added: “To have a body of work go to Number 1… it’s the ultimate sense of achievement. Thank you so much to everyone who has bought it.”
The album’s lead single, the former number one ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’, is also still performing well, currently sitting at number two. It was also confirmed Platinum in the UK today!
Earlier this week, James announced a UK tour for March 2017, after his winter tour dates sold out immediately. Tickets for his March tour went on sale this morning and sold out in a few hours, which resulted in extra dates being added due to the incredible demand.
