Fresh from releasing their summer bop ‘Head & Heart’, DJ Joel Corry and singer-songwriter MNEK have unveiled the music video for their infectious collaboration.
Directed by Elliot Sampson, the video was shot via split screen and plays on the duality of head and heart. The visual follows a day in the life of a particular man, and offers two very different takes.
On one side of the screen, we see a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders. In his grey-coloured world, he struggles to get out of bed and start his day, he gets picked on by a gang of kids on his way to work, he misses the bus and is later targeted in the workplace too.
However, on the other side of the screen, we see a guy living his best life in a world full of colour. Getting ready for the day ahead with ease, he plays ball with the gang, enjoys music through his headphones as he waits for the bus, and is celebrated at work by everyone around him.
By the end of the evening, the two versions bump into each other, although whilst the man who’s been struggling is confused by it all, the happy-go-lucky version fills him hope before disappearing. Joel and MNEK (who is serving a serious look!) also appear in the video, with clips of them performing the song intertwined within the story.
A front runner for song of the summer, ‘Head & Heart’ has already amassed over four million Spotify streams within its first week. The song also debuted at number 15 on the UK Singles Chart, and will no doubt climb even further over the coming weeks.
‘Head & Heart’ will also be the ‘Tune of the Week’ on Radio 1 next week, with Scott Mills describing it as a “straight up banger for the masses”. We couldn’t agree more!
With the hugely successful ‘Sorry’ and ‘Lonely’, already under his belt, there’s no doubt that Joel Corry is on his way to achieving a hat-trick of hits with ‘Head & Heart’. We might not be able to go to festivals this summer, but this track is sure to appear on every radio station and popular playlist!
