Josh Cuthbert has announced his decision to leave boy band Union J – now comprising of remaining members JJ Hamblett and Jaymi Hensley.
A statement was shared on to his official Twitter account, with him explaining he feels ‘like now is the right time for me to leave the band,’ also hinting at a solo career within the entertainment and music industry.

The news comes several months after Josh married model Chloe Lloyd in a beautiful ceremony. Following the wedding, the couple shared a video on YouTube of their special day.
Union J first appeared on ‘The X Factor’ in 2012, with George Shelley being added to the line-up and the four-piece made it to the Live Shows stage of the competition and finished in fourth place. Following their time on the show, they achieved immense success, embarking on their own headline tours around the UK and Ireland, releasing singles, albums and more.
George Shelley announced his decision to leave the band in 2016, with him explaining that he was going to pursue solo projects. Casey Johnson replaced him and after a year-long stint in the band, he also left the band. Following Casey’s departure, Josh, Jaymi and JJ continued as a trio, releasing several fantastic singles earlier this year.
Now with an original member leaving, it is unsure as to whether Jaymi and JJ will continue with Union J.

The official statement from Josh Cuthbert regarding his departure from the band is as follows:
“My journey with Union J has been one to remember and something I will cherish forever. But, after seven years, I feel like now is the right time for me to leave the band.
I’d like to apologise to my incredible fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right for me and follow my heart. I have decided to leave because I want to continue to develop my individual opportunities across entertainment and music.
I have so many beautiful memories with them and have friends for life in the boys and wish JJ and Jaymi all the best for the future. Thank you for your continued support. It’s down to you all that I am where I am today and you all mean the world to me.”
An official statement from Jaymi and JJ is yet to be released.
