Hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan, the search for Britain’s best amateur hair stylist returns for a brand new series, this time on BBC Two.
In a run of fresh challenges with increasingly high stakes, the ten hopefuls will have to impress the judges: royal hairdresser Denise McAdam, and stylist to the stars, Alain Pichon.
Each week across two episodes the amateur hair enthusiasts, aged 21 to 58, will be tested on every level. The judges want to see precision and perfection and are not afraid to tell the contestants exactly where they have gone wrong. In the freestyle challenge, wild creativity and bold imagination will get noticed when designing a jaw-dropping hairstyle to fit each week’s chosen theme – from iconic architecture to the world of ancient history.
Yet what the competitors don’t know is that those with the lowest ranking designs in the Freestyle will find themselves in the Eliminator – a short sharp test of their nerve and hairstyling knowhow, demonstrated by the judges on Katherine’s own hair.
The second part sets the home hairdressers professional tasks, taking the competition out into real life scenarios with the added pressures of real deadlines to hit and clients to satisfy – whether styling at a pop-up 1920s vintage club, going behind the scenes at London Fashion Week, or taking on real brides at the Capital’s funkiest wedding fair.
Which of the hopefuls will prove themselves a cut above the rest and be crowned winner of Hair 2015?
BBC Two, 8x30min episodes stripped across four weeks
The second series of Hair will air on BBC Two, on 13 July at 10pm.
