Bittersweet news for fans of 5 After Midnight hit our timelines yesterday as Kieran Alleyne took to social media to announce his split from bandmates Nathan Lewis and Jordan Lee.
The announcement comes just one year after Kieran found fame on TV talent show The XFactor as one third of boyband 5AM. The boys made it to the live shows back in 2016, finishing a respectable third place, and even got to duet with Louisa Johnson on the show.
In a statement released on Twitter yesterday afternoon, Kieran explained that he had made the difficult decision to leave the band in order to pursue a solo career, but thanked fans for their continued support since his rise to fame.

Kieran confirmed that he has already begun working on his solo music, and added: “The next chapter has started now and I have been working with some amazing writers and producers on my music.”
This is not the first time that Kieran has flown solo, though. The talented singer has gained millions of views on his YouTube channel, posting covers of his favourite songs from artists such as Justin Bieber, Drake, and John Legend! Take a peek at his cover of “All That Matters” by Justin Bieber from 2013 here!
As a youngster, Kieran even performed as young Michael Jackson in the West End musical, Thriller!
This news comes just one month after the revelation that he suffers from a heart condition which causes a slow and irregular heartbeat, called Bradycardia. Kieran needs to take it easy and continue to have his heart monitored, so go easy on the backflips and #fiyah dance moves, OK?
And while we’re heartbroken that 5AM isn’t “a thing” anymore, we’re super excited to hear the magic Kieran will produce with his R’n’B tones.
Are you a heartbroken Midnighter? Are you excited to hear Kieran’s solo material?
