Progressive soul/indie pop artist Brandyn Burnette is back with a new single called ‘Escape’.
The self taught musician has been crafting his sound for a while now, and you may already know him as he’s opened for John Mayer, Jon Bellion and James Bay in the past. Aside from his solo musical project, Brandyn is involved in a collaborative duo with Molly Moore, called Cosmos & Creature. As well as being a performer in his own right, Brandyn has also penned songs for MKTO and Jake Miller.
Now, Brandyn is taking his personal sound to the next level, with his latest single ‘Escape’. The track is from his upcoming EP Feature Films, which is one of his most anticipated pieces of work to date.
‘Escape’ has a dark vibe, blending Brandyn’s soulful vocals with some deep beats. The lyrics are raw, and whilst speaking about the track with Earmilk, Brandyn said that he wanted “to create a track that expressed the turmoil, redemption, and passion that most of us felt building throughout 2016.”
“If there’s anybody out there, show me the way. Is there anybody out there? I’ve been losing faith. Don’t say something if you don’t mean it, cos words are a weapon, careful what you say. Don’t think about it if you don’t need to, the mind is a prison that you can’t escape.”
Around the 2.30 mark, the song takes an unexpected turn, as an upbeat rhythm is added which gives ‘Escape’ another dimension. It’s safe to say that Brandyn’s music is unpredictable in the best way possible.
