Major Lazer reunite with Anitta on sizzling summer anthem ‘Make It Hot’

Dancehall enthusiasts and serial hit-makers Major Lazer continue their new era with the Anitta collaboration ‘Make It Hot’.

This week Major Lazer, led by producer to the stars Diplo and Caribbean king Walshy Fire, drop ‘Make It Hot’ as they hurtle to their long-awaited fourth studio album. Teaming up with Brazilian songstress Anitta after breaking YouTube’s record together for the most watched video in 24 hours in 2017 with ‘Sua Cara’, ‘Make It Hot’ is a Spanish-language, dancehall-tinged summer anthem.

“Having the opportunity to write/compose another song with Major Lazer was really special. We have developed this energy that is similar to being around family and close friends when we work together. It’s good to be able to bounce ideas off each other and that’s something that happens naturally now. I think it’s difficult for anyone to listen to this song and remain still.” – Anitta

Following on from Skip Marley led ‘Can’t Take It From Me’, ‘Make It Hot’ is the latest release from Major Lazer’s upcoming fourth studio album. Having debuted in 2009 with Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do and following up in 2013 with Free The Universe, two records that have gone on to define pop music in recent years, the names behind the Major Lazer collective have changed (Diplo remaining throughout) but the group’s mission  “to make the world smaller by making the party bigger” stays the same.

The new Major Lazer era sees the return of the Major Lazer cartoon character and embodiment of the group, designed by Ferry Guow, as he continues his mission of spreading the group’s unifying message. Famed for their global feats, see 2016’s Havana concert in documentary Give Me Future and constant merging of afrobeat and pop culture, fans have been awaiting their fourth studio album for years.
