On 21st June Monsta X unveiled the music video for their new single “Who Do U Love?” featuring French Montana.
Combining their powerful vocals over airy bass line and percussive snaps, the group has delivered a complete sonic package. As they lace their vocal performance with catchy moves, Monsta X provides an immersive narrative for their audience. French Montana’s verse adds sensuousness to the single and takes the temperature a notch higher.
“Who Do You Love” talks about ambiguity in a relationship which not only leads to false hope but also suffering for the one on the receiving end. Highlighting the pain this uncertainty brings, the boys ask the protagonist to make an exit before it’s too late.
Theatre as a setup adds a layer to the narrative as the love is no longer a private affair but a public spectacle, a source of entertainment for the world to enjoy. The clever conceptualisation sends out an important message – we are the players and the ones played by the world. We must make our move carefully.
Monsta X will be making their North American television debut when they perform “Who Do U Love?” live on ABC’s Good Morning America Thursday, August 1, 2019.
Right now, they’re in the midst of the seventeen-date “we are here” world tour. It spans Bangkok, Australia, and Europe before touching down stateside for six dates starting in Dallas, TX July 25 at Verizon Theatre. The tour will conclude at The Staples Center in Los Angeles on August 10.
