    Music Introducing: Drax Project

New Zealand quartet Drax Project made their CelebMix debut last year, but we thought following on from the release of their track Woke Up Late with Hailee Steinfeld it’s time to properly introduce you.

Forming in 2013 as a duo before becoming a quartet the following year the band started out busking on the streets of Wellington. But last year the band really took off with the release of their Noon EP. The EP featured Woke Up Late, which features an annoyingly catchy chorus to get you singing along without even realising you’re doing it. Alongside three further tracks highlighting the bands varying sound from the introducition of synths to harmonies you can’t help but fall in love with on Sidebit.

Kicking off 2019 by re-releasing Woke Up Late, they invited Hailee Steinfeld on to the track to make the upbeat track even more fun than we first thought possible. Maybe it’s the fact the evening being described in the chorus sums up nights we’ve definitely all had which have ended in up sleeping till noon, sounds familiar? Vocally there’s sheer pop fun within the track as we hear the pair reminiscing on the adventure of a night out and what comes after.

You might have been lucky enough to catch the quartet when they headed out on tour across Europe with Camila Cabello on her Never Be The Same tour or when they supported Ed Sheeran but it isn’t just supporting slots they’re getting a lot of love from. In their home country of New Zealand, they hold the record for the fastest selling club show in Auckland history, knocking Lorde off the top spot. Drax Project will be heading over to the UK to play The Great Escape Festival in Brighton on 9th and 10th May before playing a sold-out show at Manchester’s Night People.

Drax Project are Shaan Singh, Matt Beachen, Sam Thomason and Ben O’Leary and you’re going to be hearing a lot of them in 2019. If a dose of pop, dance and hip-hop is what you’re looking for to warm your winter days, then keep your eyes peeled on CelebMix for more about the quartet.

Keep up to date with Drax Project on Facebook, Instagram, Official Website, Twitter and YouTube.
